The Prince William Swim Club, "Amberjax", which in 2010
celebrates four decades of competitive swimming excellence in
Prince William County, is a family oriented competitive swim team
offering programs tailored to the ages, skills, and competitive
interests of children 4-18+. Our 2010 season programs have
been designed to meet the needs of our swimming families with
programming ranging from our Competitive Year Round Swimming and
rigorous Elite Training Track, to our Swimmers In Training
(lesson program). W
e are also excited to encourage multi-sport and cross-training
athletes to join us with those who consider swimming the #1
sport! We are home to the first youth Tri Team in Prince
Wiliam County and are also starting our first year with
an ADULT Masters
Team!
Our Staff is passionate about our sport, and we love to educate our
swimmers not only about swimming as a sport, but also about what it
means to be an athlete, introducing our swimmers to proper
training techniques and mechanics, the proper nutrition for
athletes as well as the importance of goal setting and
commitment.
The Amberjax family focuses on achievement in swimming as an aspect
of well-rounded development. The team stresses achievement in
school and encourages team members of all ages to participate in
other sports and recreational activities. The Amberjax staff notes
with pride our Amberjax swimmers have gone on to receive
scholarships and swim competitively at the University of Virginia,
Old Dominion University, North Carolina State, Bucknell, Temple,
East Carolina University, Slippery Rock, Mary Washington College,
Savannah College of Arts and Design and Howard University to name a
few. Amberjax Alumni often come back home from college in the
summer to coach Prince William County summer league teams such as
Lake Ridge Lancers, Dale City Frogs, Westridge and Veterans
Park.
The Amberjax are different from other teams in the area because we
choose to remain smaller than most. We prefer the small family
atmosphere where we know each swimmer by name. We have a smaller
coach to swimmer ratio which results in more individualized
attention for your
swimmer.
